Winter '24 HNA Meeting: Wednesday 12/11 on Zoom
Hello, fellow Highlanders!
It’s time once again for our quarterly general meeting! We’ll meet on Zoom this Wednesday, December 11 from 6-8pm.
📅 What’s On the Agenda? 📅
Board elections! If you’re interested in joining the Highland Neighborhood Association board, now’s the time! We’re in search of a secretary and always looking for new members for the Neighborhood Contact Team and our parks and mobility committees.
Development and zoning updates from the Neighborhood Contact Team
Mobility, transit, and walkability updates from our mobility committee, which strategizes on ways to improve pedestrian infrastructure and safety as development/density grows
Parks and public spaces updates, including on the incoming public art project created by Samara Barks
If y’all have additional questions, concerns, or conversations you’d like to get started with your neighbors, please email me — president@highlandneighborhood.org — and I’ll see about adding items to the agenda!
❄️ Highland Holiday Alley ❄️
Highlanders who share the alley running between Prairie Dell and Crestland Dr. are hosting their second annual Highland Holiday Alley event on Saturday, December 14th. The festivities begin at sunset, and include live music, potluck snacks, and an appearance from Santa himself. Locals are welcome to stop by and check out the lights and fun!
🍂 Covid Vaccines and Flu Shots 🍂
‘Tis the season to get the jab(s)! COVID cases are on the rise in Texas, but updated vaccines are available at area pharmacies. Check out vaccines.gov for a location near you. Don’t forget to get your flu shot, too!

🚮 Trash + Recycling 🚮
The City of Austin has a neat online tool that allows residents to track upcoming pickups and bulk and brush collection schedules — just enter your address. Keep in mind that the brown bins are for landfill trash, the blue bins are for recycling only, and the green bins are for compost. If you’ve got the wrong items in the wrong bin, your waste won’t be collected.
See y’all Soon!
Cheers,
Andrea
