Summer '24 Highland Neighborhood Meeting: Wednesday 6/12 at ACC

Hello, fellow Highlanders!

It’s time once again for our quarterly general meeting! We’ll gather at ACC Highland (Building 1000, Room 1.2207 — note that this is a slightly different room than our usual) on Wednesday, June 12 from 6-8pm. We’ll also broadcast live on Zoom here.

📅 What’s On the Agenda? 📅

  • Development and zoning updates from the Neighborhood Contact Team, including a new development slated for 6900 Lamar (at Justin Ln)

  • Mobility, transit, and walkability updates from our mobility committee, which is strategizing on ways to improve pedestrian infrastructure and safety as development/density grows

  • Parks and public spaces updates on construction at Highland Neighborhood Park and the incoming public art project created by Samara Barks

If y’all have additional questions, concerns, or conversations you’d like to get started with your neighbors, please email me — president@highlandneighborhood.org — and I’ll see about adding items to the agenda!

🏡 Help Us Find a New Meeting Spot

The Highland Neighborhood Association is looking for a new location to host our quarterly general meetings beginning this fall. We need a comfortable, accessible indoor space with WiFi that’s open to the public and able to accommodate 15-25 folks every few months at no cost. If you’ve got a gathering spot in Highland that might work, please give us a holler at board@highlandneighborhood.org.

🚮 Trash + Recycling 🚮

The City of Austin has a neat online tool that allows residents to track upcoming pickups and bulk and brush collection schedules — just enter your address. Keep in mind that the brown bins are for landfill trash, the blue bins are for recycling only, and the green bins are for compost. If you’ve got the wrong items in the wrong bin, your waste won’t be collected.

🏖️ City Pools and Splash Pads 🏖️

Wondering where to cool off in town this summer? Check out the City of Austin’s list of local pools and splash pads.

See y’all thursday!

Cheers,
